Winnipeg to Chicago, Illinois - $248 CAD roundtrip including taxes | throughout 2017/2018 schedule

Delta has dropped the price of their flights from Winnipeg to Chicago down to $248 CAD roundtrip including taxes throughout the 2017 and 2018 schedule.
The flights have 1 stop each way, a short layover in Minneapolis (45 minutes to 1 hour).
Virtually every date in the 2017 and 2018 calendar seems to be available, except some peak Christmas dates, right up to the end of June 2018.
This is 55% cheaper than the typical cheapest price for a roundtrip flight from Winnipeg to Chicago.
If you've ever tried to fly from Winnipeg to Chicago you know it's a very expensive route.
I haven't seen a fare this cheap from Winnipeg to Chicago since 2011 !
Delta's flights to Denver, Colorado (DEN) have also dropped significantly on a large number of 2017/2018 dates, to $322 CAD roundtrip, which is about 40% below normal.
But a warning about Delta fares from now on:
Delta is now offering what they call 'Basic Economy' fares on this route (and many other domestic routes). Think of this as a level below what used to be just called Economy (if you can imagine).
Delta no longer allows you to select a seat before check-in. You will be assigned seats after check-in or at the gate, unless you 'upgrade' to Economy.
In your head, you should now automatically add $31.50 CAD to all of Delta's roundtrip prices that you see online when searching, to compare fairly against other airlines.
If you do care about being able to select your seat in advance, which I'm sure many do, you should think of these Delta flights to Chicago as being $279.50 CAD roundtrip including taxes, for an economy flight.
Unless you don't care about being able to select your seat in advance. In which case, you might actually be saving money on some Delta flights from now on. Delta.com makes it very clear when you are booking a Basic Economy fare (giant pop-up). Other websites may be less clear.
United Airlines is also offering Basic Economy fares on routes from the U.S. So far, they have not implemented them on routes from Canadian cities.

Just to note that flights from Winnipeg to Chicago's Midway airport (MDW) are also available for this price. It's a smaller airport, and a bit closer to downtown Chicago. Transportation costs to downtown are about the same from either of Chicago's airports.

- Click on the departure date box to open up the calendar view and browse for cheap date combinations.
2. Select your flights in Google Flights and then click through to the Delta website

Update 8/3 @ 4 PM - It looks this may be over. Google Flights is still showing $249 on some dates, but the prices are jumping up to $600 once you click through to the Delta website.
If anyone sees any dates that don't jump up in price after clicking through, please comment, to help out your fellow travelers.
